Active Learning on Wednesday

Wednesday’s focus is active participation in workshop style sessions where you learn by doing.

As we announced previously, this year we will have MEGA Minds on Media.  The entire Peller Estates ballroom will host expert educators ready to work with you.  If you attend Minds On Media, the premise is for you to spend as much time as you like at each centre.  Visit one of the centres or visit them all! You might be an absolute beginner or a whiz with technology—but this is about using new technologies with students through a ‘tinkering’ lens. You choose your ‘entry point’.

We are pleased to announce that one of the centres will be hosted by 4 educational “legends” – Roger Wagner, Sara Armstrong, and David and Norma Thornburg – “HyperDuino, ArduSat & other STEAM fun!”

Details on MEGA Minds On Media can be found in Lanyrd here.

Details on each of the MEGA Minds On Media centres can be found in Lanyrd here.

For those who want to focus on a topic and explore it in depth, there are also full and half-day sessions.  Sessions include Working with Multimedia, AP Computer Science Principles, Minecraft, Personalized Learning, Raspberry Pi… The full list of sessions, with descriptions, can be found in Lanyrd here.

Participants are not required to pre-register for individual Minds on Media sessions, just make sure that you register for Minds on Media: you are free to go where you feel your learning needs are best being met and spend as much time as you like at whichever centres you choose.

Full and half-day sessions do not require pre-registration.

If you haven’t registered yet, follow this link.  Download the appropriate Lanyrd app for your device, make sure you have an account on Lanyrd to start planning which sessions you will attend.
